UN Calls Israel’s Power Cut in Gaza ‘Genocide’

The United Nations has strongly condemned Israel’s decision to cut off power in Gaza, calling it an act of “genocide” against the Palestinian people.

The decision has led to a humanitarian crisis, as water treatment plants in Gaza are no longer functional, leaving millions without access to clean drinking water.

Hamas Condemns the Decision

Hamas has labeled Israel’s power cut in Gaza as “unacceptable pressure”, arguing that it is a tactic to force Palestinian resistance groups into submission.

Izzat al-Rishq, a senior member of Hamas’s political bureau, stated:

“We strongly condemn this decision, as Gaza was already deprived of food, medicine, and water.”

UN Issues ‘Genocide Alert’

The UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to warn of a “Genocide Alert”.

She highlighted that cutting off power also means no access to clean water, worsening the already dire humanitarian situation.

“Countries that do not impose sanctions on Israel or halt arms supplies are complicit in this historic and preventable genocide,” she added.

Humanitarian Crisis Worsens

With power outages shutting down water purification plants, millions of Palestinians now face severe water shortages.

Human rights organizations have condemned the move as a “war crime” and “collective punishment”, urging immediate international intervention.
