Ceasefire in Ramadan: Israel Agrees to Extend Truce Duration
No Official Response from Hamas or Mediating Countries Yet
Tel Aviv โ Israel has agreed to the U.S. proposal for a temporary extension of the ongoing ceasefire agreement in Gaza, as announced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
According to the statement, the ceasefire extension will cover the holy month of Ramadan and continue until mid-April, coinciding with the Jewish festival, in an effort to improve the situation.
The Israeli Prime Ministerโs Office further stated that half of the hostages, whether alive or deceased, will be handed over to Israel on the first day of the truce extension. However, there has been no official response from Hamas or the countries mediating the agreement.
This decision comes as the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was completed yesterday.
