According to international news agencies, the incident occurred near Humber Estuary, northeast of Withernsea, just before 10 AM local time.
The oil tanker, identified as Stena Immaculate, was carrying the US flag, while the cargo ship, named Solong, bore the Portuguese flag.
Rescue Operations Underway
Emergency response teams, including lifeboats and a Coast Guard helicopter, rushed to the scene after receiving distress calls.
Rescue efforts have so far pulled 32 severely injured crew members from the wreckage, with many in critical condition.
Shipowners Remain Silent on Cause
The company owning the Stena Immaculate has stated that all crew members are safe, but refused to comment on the cause or nature of the accident.
Meanwhile, the owners of the Portuguese ship have not yet issued any statement.
