Kabul: Amir Khan Muttaqi, the interim Foreign Minister of Afghanistan under the Taliban administration, has indicated a willingness to improve relations with the United States and other nations. He stated that Americans can visit Afghanistan for business or diplomatic reasons, as long as they are not in military uniform.
In an interview with BBC Persian, Muttaqi expressed the interim Afghan government’s desire to foster positive relations with all countries, including the U.S. He noted that while the Taliban government does not permit American military personnel in the country, there are no restrictions for diplomats or businesspeople.
Muttaqi also pointed out that the interim government has not received any direct financial assistance from the United States over the past three years. He explained that U.S. aid has been allocated through international organizations and is being used for humanitarian efforts outside of Afghanistan.
He added that aid traditionally provided to Afghanistan under international frameworks and through the United Nations has not been delivered to the Afghan government in recent years. Despite this, the interim administration remains open to building and sustaining constructive international relationships.
