Moscow: A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 has struck Russia, leading authorities to issue a tsunami warning for the affected regions.
According to reports from international news outlets, the earthquake impacted northern coastal areas of Russia, with the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky being closest to the epicenter. This proximity caused the strongest tremors to be felt in the city.
The Geological Department noted that the earthquake’s epicenter was located 55 kilometers from the city at a depth of 18 miles. The tremors were felt up to 100 kilometers away from the epicenter.
In the wake of the earthquake, a tsunami warning has been issued for the region, and rescue teams have been put on high alert.
Thankfully, no casualties or significant property damage have been reported at this time.
Local emergency services have communicated via Telegram, stating that while most aftershocks are minor, they are maintaining full vigilance and preparedness.
